Functional Aspects:
CD83 is a useful target antigen to identify mature and
activated dendritic cells. CD83 is found on Langerhans cells in
the skin, peripheral blood dendritic cells, and interdigitating
reticulum cells within the T cell areas of lymphoid organs.
It is also expressed on Reed-Sternberg cells such as those in
Hodgkin’s disease. Clone 1H4b was raised against the external
N-terminus of CD83.
