| Biotinylated Hippeastrum Hybrid Lectin (HHL, AL)
|
|
|
|
This lectin is composed of four subunits of identical size and
is immunologically related to GNL and NPL. Amaryllis lectin
binds only α-mannose residues, unlike Con A, LCA and PSA
that also bind α-glucosyl structures. Like NPL there appears to
be an extended binding site for polymannose structures, not
requiring mannose to be at the non-reducing terminus. HHL
binds both (α-1,3) and (α-1,6) linked mannose structures, as
well as some yeast galactomannans.
Biotinylated Hippeastrum hybrid lectin has an appropriate number of biotins
bound to provide the optimum staining characteristics for
this lectin. This conjugate is supplied essentially free of
unconjugated biotins and is preserved with sodium sodium azide.
This biotinylated lectin is an ideal intermediate for examining glycoconjugates using the Biotin-Avidin/Streptavidin System. First the biotinylated lectin is added, followed by the VECTASTAIN® ABC Reagent, Avidin D conjugate, or streptavidin derivative.
Inhibiting Sugar: 100 mM α-methylmannoside
